INORE @ OREC 2019 – CALL FOR ATTENDANCE
Are you a graduate student, early-stage researcher, or young professional in offshore renewable energy? You’re invited to the Ocean Renewable Energy Conference (OREC) hosted by the Pacific Ocean Energy Trust (POET), in Portland, Oregon! Join us for a morning workshop hosted by INORE on September 11th. INOREans are encouraged to attend the full conference. See below for details and registration instructions.
There are three events happening in Oregon in September!
1) On September 11th and 12th, the Pacific Ocean Energy Trust (POET) is hosting the Ocean Renewable Energy Conference (OREC) in Portland, OR. The conference will focus on a broad range of subjects related to marine renewable energy, including testing infrastructure, project updates, and Blue Economy opportunities. As part of the conference, INORE will be hosting a workshop and networking opportunity on the morning of September 11th that will consist of facilitated, small group discussions with government and industry professionals working in marine energy. Conference registration is $250 for students. Additional information about OREC, including the conference location and agenda, can be found here
2) On September 10th, the day before OREC, the US Department of Energy is sponsoring an afternoon workshop focused on promoting university-industry research collaborations. The workshop will be held at the same location as OREC, and INOREans are encouraged to come a day early to Portland to attend! There is no registration fee for this workshop.
3) On September 16th and 17th, Oregon State University, the Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC), and Sandia National Labs are presenting a two-day integrated WEC design workshop. The workshop will take place at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. Workshop registration is $80 for students. More information can be found here
Limited funding is available to support travel to OREC. However, in order to be eligible for funding, you must register before July 30th and attend the university-industry research collaboration workshop on the afternoon of September 10th. Depending on availability, funding may cover transportation, lodging, meals, and OREC registration costs.
